To enable AAP chapters in Mississippi and Louisiana to organize a series of trainings for local health care personnel to prepare them to treat emotional problems resulting from Hurricane Katrina; deploy teams of mental health experts to reach out to families and staff in schools and child care centers; disseminate directories and set up a temporary toll-free telephone number to connect relocated families to new pediatric practices; and provide AAP books, manuals, and other publications to pediatric practices to replace materials destroyed by the storm.
