Singing in Solidarity

Share

On May 1, International Workers' Day, the Doris Duke Foundation launched Creative Labor, Creative Conditions, a national network and campaign championing artists as essential workers. The initiative calls for meaningful investment in artists by advancing the conditions they need to live and work.

To mark the launch, choral artist Troy Anthony and The Fire Ensemble led an hour-long musical gathering in Times Square. Produced by theater artist Kaneza Schaal, the activation featured six performing arts groups joining in collective song and solidarity. Performers, audience members and passersby alike were welcomed into the experience.
