The Doris Duke Foundation (DDF) is excited to announce Treehouse—a dedicated hub for inspiring conversations, collaboration, idea generation and action on nature and natural climate solutions—at Climate Week NYC 2025. DDF launched Treehouse during Climate Week NYC 2024 with nearly 40 events and over 800 participants over the course of the week. To learn more about DDF’s initiatives on Climate-smart Forests and Indigenous-led Conservation, visit the Environment Program’s webpage.
For 2025, DDF is inviting applications from organizations interested in hosting events, convenings, and meetings at Treehouse during September 20-26, 2025. We are seeking applications that:
- Focus on Nature and Natural Climate Solutions: Events, convenings or meetings should emphasize and showcase the importance of nature and/or natural ecosystems in addressing climate change. We are particularly interested in those that focus on the protection, restoration and management of forests to combat climate change.
- Develop Innovative Solutions: Events, convenings, and meetings should inspire creative thinking and problem-solving, leading to actionable strategies for protecting or restoring nature and scaling up natural climate solutions. This includes conversations that foster cross-sector engagement, learning and dialog.
- Drive an Intended Impact or Deliverable: Events, convenings, and meetings should articulate a broader impact that would advance your work. This could include events that deepen commitment to a solution, announce new initiatives or partnerships, influence policy or mobilize resources.
- Cultivate New Partnerships: Events, convenings, and meetings should aim to bring together a diverse set of stakeholders—including policymakers, scientists, community leaders, activists and others—to forge collaborations that can elevate the impact of nature and natural climate actions.
- Amplify a Diversity of Voices and Perspectives: Events, convenings, and meetings should elevate voices from underrepresented communities and those that reflect a variety of cultural and experiential viewpoints. We are particularly interested in events that uplift Indigenous voices and perspectives.
Strong applications to the Treehouse will resonate with the criteria above and will be diverse in their nature. A strong Treehouse application might be focused on deploying a significant press conference, another could be focused on providing space for important closed-door discussions, while others are promoting new solutions to relevant stakeholders, or perhaps finalizing or launching new alliances and future initiatives. In all cases, by centering and uplifting the community of leaders focused on nature and natural climate solutions, Treehouse is designed to uplift and empower the community writ large.
Treehouse also provides an opportunity to partner with the Doris Duke Foundation in the amplification of your work through communications and other platforms. We look forward to collaborating with you!
