Meredith Artley

Executive-in-Residence, Shangri La

Meredith Artley is the executive-in-residence and interim executive director of Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design. In this first-ever role for Shangri La and the Doris Duke Foundation, she oversees the museum and its capabilities to create transformative experiences and positive impacts, deepening connections with local communities in Hawaii and also globally through creative uses of digital technologies.  

Prior to joining Shangri La, Artley was the editor in chief and senior vice president of CNN Digital Worldwide. She transformed CNN into the number one brand for news on the internet and built a global team of journalists committed to sharing trusted news and essential stories to millions of people around the world.  

Artley has spent more than 25 years at the intersection of journalism and technology. Prior to her 12+ years at CNN, Meredith ran digital teams at The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and the Paris-based International Herald Tribune.  

She is a graduate of the University of Missouri, a past president of the board of directors for the Online News Association, a former member of the Aspen Institute’s Knight Commission on Trust, Media and Democracy and a fellow of the Sulzberger Executive Leadership program at Columbia University.
