The Doris Duke Foundation (DDF) supports the well-being of people and the planet for a more creative, equitable and sustainable future. We operate five national grantmaking programs—in the performing arts, the environment, medical research, child and family well-being, and mutual understanding between communities—as well as Duke Farms and Shangri La, two centers that serve the public directly. DDF’s activities are guided by the will of Doris Duke, who endowed the foundation with financial assets that currently total above $2 billion.
POSITION
The talent manager is responsible for sourcing, assessing and selecting the most qualified individuals to support and advance the mission, values and strategic priorities of the foundation. The talent manager designs and implements strategies and processes for new employees that foster a sense of belonging, empowerment and engagement to drive connection to DDF and encourage high-level performance. The manager also assists with employee departures and oversees succession planning. Additionally, as a member of the People and Culture team, the talent manager will contribute HR generalist knowledge and enthusiasm to assist with all aspects of people and culture, including performance and development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Talent acquisition: Develops and implements a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to attract top-tier talent. Coordinates all recruitment and brand awareness. Develops and evolves appropriate and successful selection tools; fosters a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment; measures outcomes. Conducts job analyses and evaluations to update job descriptions as the foundation and its work evolve. Serves as an internal People and Culture partner to hiring managers to create and promote innovative, strategic full-cycle talent acquisition.
- Onboarding and integration: Collaborates with People and Culture colleagues and hiring managers to develop and implement a positive and effective onboarding experience for new employees. Helps ensure that employee handbook and foundation policies are up to date. Develops training for new hires and processes employment documents. Supports new employees’ transition to the foundation.
- Offboarding and succession data/information: Leads the process of formal separation between employees and the foundation through resignation, termination or retirement. Works with all parties to transfer knowledge and job responsibilities. Collects information that may inform future changes, competencies and skills for roles and facilitates succession planning. Conducts exit interviews and directs other activities to thoughtfully transition departing employees’ statuses.
- Data analytics and reporting: Collaborates with leaders and hiring managers to gain and offer insight into current staffing needs and produces forecasts for talent availability; uses data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive improvements.
- Workforce management technology: Maintains and maximizes implementation and opportunities for refinement of the foundation’s human resources information system; tracks and applies relevant organizational/people and talent metrics; develops and uses information dashboards; contributes information, analyses and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; advances the understanding and use of the technology; and refines its future use for workforce talent functions and activities.
- General HR: Understands all key People and Culture functions. Assists, when needed, with performance and development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.
- Alumni: Develops a system to track alumni and explores the possibility of creating a DDF alumni network.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success and experience as a talent acquisition manager in recruiting and sourcing in multiple discipline areas and levels; thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as knowledge of applicable policies and federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems and databases.
- Proven success in the development and management of onboarding and offboarding strategies and systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen and learn from diverse perspectives; ability to work collaboratively with others and effectively in teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Well-organized, ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously; strong time management proficiency.
- Proficient with data analytics, talent management systems, social media and job boards.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Anticipated salary range is $70,000-$87,000, and the final offer will depend on experience.
